Kendall County Health Department employs over 50 individuals. Salaries and benefits offered by KCHD are competitive with other private and public sector positions. Employment benefits vary according to full-time or part-time employment status and between employee groups. Benefits options include:

  • Approximately 14.5 paid holidays per year (holidays approved each year by the Kendall County Board)
  • Paid Vacation Time – accrued each month, available for use immediately, increases incrementally with years of service

WIC Specialist: Full Time - Non-Exempt 

WIC Specialist Responsibilities

  • Provides direct services in all community health programming for both population-based and person-based services, including but not limited to WIC, Better Birth Outcomes (BBO), immunizations, Vaccines for Children (VFC), communicable disease, the mobile unit program, emergency preparedness, and other special programs & projects as directed.
  • Assists clients as needed with all programs, both in person and on phone, in all Community Health Services programs/services, and refers clients to other needed programs, both within the department and outside agencies.
  • Enrolls clients in WIC and Better Birth Outcomes (BBO), including determining eligibility for programs, and assists with maintaining clinic flow.  
  • Responsible for payment/fees collections and all related paperwork.

Schedule

  • 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • 11:00 am – 7:00 pm Tuesday
  • Occasional additional evenings and weekends as directed

  • Paid Personal Time – 40 hours annually.

Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and two years’ experience in a clerical position or any combination of experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required.
  • Public health experience preferred.
  • Valid Illinois Driver’s License. Must become an authorized driver upon hire.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Spanish-speaking preferred.
